Surface Treatment of Wood
Material Quality
- Made from natural, high-quality timber with excellent durability and density
- Slow-growing wood ensures a straight grain, minimal knots, and a high heartwood content
- As a natural material, wood may develop cracks, color variations, or other changes – these are normal and not defects
Weather Sensitivity & Timing
- Wood is highly sensitive to sunlight and moisture
- Treat all wood components immediately upon delivery, or no later than after assembly
- Ideal treatment conditions: dry, partly cloudy weather over 41°F (+5°C)
Treatment Process
- Step 1: Apply a clear wood preservative to protect against mold and blue stain
- Step 2: Finish with a clear, translucent, or colored preservative, or a breathable opaque paint
- Always use breathable coatings – avoid anything that creates a sealed, non-permeable film
- Be sure to treat both sides of doors and windows
