Intended Use
This parasol is designed to provide sun protection and is intended for use in private households, restaurants, hotels, and similar environments. Proper installation and operation per these instructions are required. Any other use is considered improper. Technical modifications may be made as advancements occur. Throughout this guide, the FORTANO® may also be referred to as "the product" or "parasol."

Safety Precautions
- UV Protection – The effectiveness of UV protection varies based on location and conditions. Additional sun protection measures may be necessary
- Wind Safety – Close the sunshade immediately in case of strong winds or gusts. Allowing it to flap in the wind may damage the fabric
- Supervision – Never leave the sunshade open and unattended
- Safe Operation – Ensure no people or objects are near the moving parts while opening, closing, or adjusting the canopy
Installation & Setup
1) Unpacking the Parasol
Your package includes:
- Parasol
- Crank with stud
- Binding strap
- Protective cover
- Floor fastening components:
- 5 fastening screws
- 5 support screws
- Standpipe fastening components:
- 2 round-headed screws
- 2 washers
- 3 Allen keys
- Standpipe cover
- Operating instructions
⚠ Important: Dispose of packaging properly and keep away from children. Do not use damaged materials—report any transport damage immediately.
2) Placing the Parasol
- Place the parasol on a clean, flat surface.
- The parasol is heavy—at least three people should handle it for safety.
3) Preparing the Floor Fastening
Follow the separate floor fastening instructions for proper installation.
4) Pre-Assembling the Standpipe
- Extend the standpipe from the mast.
- Position the parasol on the standpipe, ensuring that the side with two threaded holes faces away from the parasol.
- Align the holes and adjust the position.
- Place 5 washers in position.
- Secure the standpipe using 5 hexagonal screws.
⚠ Note: Ensure the side with threaded holes is facing away from the parasol.
5) Attaching the Parasol
- Position the parasol onto the standpipe.
- Secure it tightly using 2 washers and 2 round-headed screws.
- Attach the crank and tighten it securely.
- Remove the strap.
- Open the parasol using the crank.
- Ensure the inner components lock into place.
⚠ Safety Warning: The parasol is heavy—always work with three people to ensure safe handling.
6) Securing the Parasol
- Make final positioning adjustments.
- Lock the parasol in place by tightening the 5 hexagonal screws.
- Click the standpipe cover into place on both sides.
- Push the standpipe cover down fully.
- Close the parasol.
Operating the Parasol
1) Opening the Parasol
- Remove the protective cover.
- Detach the binding strap.
- Open the parasol completely using the crank.
- Ensure the internal components lock into place.
⚠ Note: The parasol will automatically align horizontally. Always check that the internal components are fully engaged for safe operation.
2) Closing the Parasol
Turn the crank counterclockwise until the parasol is completely closed.
⚠ Tip: Keep the parasol as compact as possible when closed.
3) Securing & Protecting the Parasol
- Fold or wrap the fabric segments neatly.
- Secure the parasol with the binding strap.
- Place the protective cover over the parasol.
- Close the protective cover completely.
⚠ Recommendation: To prolong the lifespan of the fabric, GLATZ strongly recommends using a protective sleeve whenever the parasol is closed.

Treatment and care
Handling & Maintenance
- Always allow the parasol to dry fully when open to prevent mold and discoloration.
- Use a protective sleeve to shield the parasol and extend its lifespan.
- Only cover the parasol with the protective sleeve when it is completely dry.
- Do not machine wash the protective sleeve or use harsh chemicals for cleaning.
- Clean the parasol as needed using lukewarm water, mild detergent, and a soft sponge.
- Avoid bleach and sharp objects to prevent damage to the fabric.
- Periodically check all screws and tighten them if necessary to maintain stability.
- If the parasol is installed in an exposed or high-wind area, expect increased wear and perform regular maintenance.
- Most parasol issues can be repaired by an authorized GLATZ partner. Always use genuine GLATZ replacement parts for repairs.
Disassembly & Storage
⚠ WARNING: Risk of Tipping & Injury – Proper handling is required to prevent accidents.
- Fully close and securely tie the parasol.
- Dismantle the parasol following the installation steps in reverse order.
- Store the parasol in a horizontal position, along with all accessories, in a dry and sheltered location.

Warranty Policy
Warranty Coverage
Glatz AG products come with a limited warranty. Any defects in delivered items must be reported in writing within 14 days of receipt. After this period, warranty coverage is restricted to repairs only. Cancellations, replacements, or price adjustments are not permitted if the product can be repaired within a reasonable timeframe.
Warranty Period
Warranty and guarantee claims expire two years after the product has been handed over to the shipping carrier.
Liability Limitations
Glatz AG is only liable for damages in cases of gross negligence or willful misconduct. Liability for indirect or consequential damages is expressly excluded.
Exceptions to Liability Limitations
The above limitations do not apply in cases involving:
- Injury to life, limb, or health
- Legal obligations under product liability laws
- Damages caused by gross negligence or intentional misconduct
